Google’s G Suite office application just received a whole new set of features which guarantee to make the user experience a lot more fluid. The update comes with enhanced accessibility options for Google Sheets, Slides, and Drawings. You can use screen magnifiers with Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drawings on macOS and Chrome OS devices.

Additionally, now you can search the contents of a sub-folder in Google drive. All you need to do is to select the drop-down in the search bar and choose the folder you want from the Location menu. You can also right-click on a folder and search within that folder. Only folders that are on your My Drive or within Team Drives can be searched; if you have a folder that is shared with you, first add the folder to your My Drive. One would expect the feature to exist already, but, eh, whatever. We’re glad that it’s here now.

Google Adds More Support for Braille Displays

People with Braille displays can now use Google Sheets. Previously, the support was only limited to Google Docs, Slides and Drawings. Now, you’ll be able to use a Braille display to read and edit cell contents as well as navigate between cells in a sheet. At the moment, Braille support in Sheets will only be available on Chrome OS with the ChromeVox screen reader. Google is working on adding support for other platforms and screen readers and we can expect a more detailed update on it shortly.

The updates in itself might seem a tad insignificant but will come as a huge boon for visually impaired users. The proposed updates are yet to be implemented, but we can expect a full-scale rollout in the next two weeks or so.
