A FURIOUS gran who whinged a Benidorm resort had "too many Spanish people in it" isn't the first disgusted to Brit to have done so, scathing TripAdvisor reviews show.

Dozens of other disgusted holidaymakers claimed Hotel Poseidon Playa was teeming with "rude" Spanish families "taking over".

Freda Jackson, 81, said she was left in tears at the end of her two-week holiday to the tourist hotspot.

The grandmother to six, from Blackburn, Lancs., said: "The hotel was full of Spanish holidaymakers and they really got on our nerves because they were just so rude.

"One evening a Spanish guy nearly knocked me flying and he just walked off without even apologising.

"The entertainment in the hotel was all focused and catered for the Spanish - why can't the Spanish go somewhere else for their holidays?"

And remarkably, the shocking TripAdvisor reviews now show the retired care assistant is not alone in her complaints.

Brit claimed the Spanish had "invaded" and "taken over" the three-star hotel.

One woman, of Stoke-on-Trent, Staffs., even branded her trip the "worst holiday" she'd ever had.

In her rant, she said: "No complaints of staff or the hotel, just the very rude ignorant pushy Spanish that invaded the hotel.

"We did read up on reviews that said there were few Spanish , but not so many they overtook the hotel.

"Evening entertainment 99 per cent Spanish, couldn't get on dance for them 99 per cent Spanish music, they all grouped together with the chairs and tables, we didn't dare move as they would have wiped ours too (sic)."

But the hotel replied: "Thank you for the time you used to write your review and for your words about our hotel and staff.

"We regret that our entertainment was not to your liking. It is usually very well rated by the most Customers (any nationality).

"Our daily entertainment includes activities like GAP, games, power dance, latin dance, laugh therapy, English petanque, etc. and our night entertainment includes shows, live music, contests, cabaret, etc."

And another guest, from Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, took to the site to allege that Spaniards at the hotel gave English guests "filthy looks".

"Lovely clean hotel, pricey bar for drinks, terrible for the Spanish giving you filthy looks soon as they realise your English (sic)!"

Another woman wrote: "It was all in Spanish, I know it is in Spain but everything was catered for the Spanish, the food, the music.

"If you where an OAP and Spanish you would have had a ball, hotels I know cater for all as it is for tourists all over the world not just Spanish (sic)."

Other tourists moaned the Spanish were rude and the entertainment was in Spanish.

However, the majority of comments on the site are positive.

And in response to one unhappy guest, the manager of Hotel Poseidon Playa wrote: "We have 25 international channels in our TV, not just one in English and the rest in Spanish.

"Yes, we have some traditional Spanish food in our menu, as an extra plate, but we also have different meats, fish, rices, vegetables, pies, pasta, paella.... Also Shepherd's Pie and Yorkshire Pudding on some days, so plenty of international choice.

"For breakfast you will find, bacon, sausages, fried eggs, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, fresh fruits, pastries, yougurts, pancakes, omelletes... A choice for everyone. We also have tea and a selection of infusions.

"During the month of March, we have catered a lot of other nationalities, not just Spanish, and in every department there is more than two workers that speak very fluent English."

Freda, who suffers from mobility issues, had saved up her pension for the £1,133 Thomas Cook trip with her 61-year-old pal.

A spokesman for the holiday operator said: "Due to a system error Ms Jackson was not informed of a change to her flights until six days before departure.

"We are very sorry for the inconvenience this caused and are investigating to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

"We have offered Ms Jackson and her travel companion a gesture of goodwill to try and put things right which we hope she will accept."
