In his message to the Federal Assembly, Putin also talked about other new weapons developed in Russia-the Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile that will replace Voevod, the strategic missile complex with a planning wing unit called Avangard, about a cruise missile with a nuclear power plant and practically unlimited range of flight, about an underwater nuclear drone and about a complex of laser weapons.

At the same time, the president stressed that Russia does not threaten anyone and she did not have and there are no plans to use this potential for offensive, and even more aggressive, purposes.

Colonel-General Sergei Surovikin, Commander-in-Chief of the Military Space Agency, called the creation of "Dagger" an important breakthrough in the development of hypersonic weapons systems.

"The presence of the Dagger complex significantly expands the capabilities of the Russian Aerospace Forces to respond to a possible aggression against our country and, along with other strategic weapons systems, will help to contain potential adversaries from ill-considered actions," the commander-in-chief said.

The military-diplomatic source said that there is no protection from Dagger.
