Smartwatch for kids are becoming very popular lately, but it looks like there is a lot of room for improvements, especially when it comes to security. Because of the latter, Germany's telecommunications regulator, the Federal Network Agency, announced a ban today on the sale of kids' smartwatches, the BBC reports.

The agency even encourages parents to destroy the ones they already own. According to Jochen Homann, president of the Federal Network Agency, "Via an app, parents can use such children's watches to listen unnoticed to the child's environment and they are to be regarded as an unauthorised transmitting system. According to our research, parents' watches are also used to listen to teachers in the classroom."

The agency has also taken action against several companies who offer such devices on the internet.
