A TEENAGE girl who died in a "freak accident" just days before Christmas will be laid to rest next week.

Megan O'Connor suffered a fatal cut after reportedly falling on a glass bottle she was carrying in her waistband on December 23.

The 18-year-old was rushed to St James' Hospital from Sundrive Road in Dublin but sadly passed away a short time later.

Megan suffered multiple injuries, including a severed artery.

Her death notice reads: "Megan O'Connor (Glenshane, Tallaght, Dublin 24) 23rd December, 2018, tragically following a freak accident.

"Beloved daughter of Tina and loving sister of Brandon.

"She will be very sadly missed by her heartbroken mam, brother, auntie Sonya, uncles Patrick, Jason and Edward, cousins Seán and Andrew, all her close cousins, neighbours and a very large circle of friends.

"Reposing at her home on New Year’s Day (1st January, 2019) from 3pm until 8pm.

"Removal on Wednesday morning (2nd January, 2019 ) to the Church of St. Thomas the Apostle, Jobstown, Tallaght, arriving for Funeral Mass at 11am, followed by burial at Bohernabreena Cemetery."

Tributes have since been paid to the teen, with one remembering her as "one of a kind".

Another added: "You were literally the funniest, kind-hearted person."

A third said: "God has gained another angel."

A garda spokesman said at the time: "Gardai are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the death of an 18-year-old female that occurred on Sunday the 23rd of December 2018 at approx. 12.30am.

"An 18-year-old female collapsed...she was treated at scene by DFB and was then brought to St James Street Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

"Investigations are on going."
