French President Emmanuel Macron said Europe should not be scared of a no-deal Brexit, but were Britain’s new leadership to ask for an extension beyond Oct. 31 it would have to provide something new to justify it.

“I hope from my side that we finish before,” Macron told a news conference at the end of an EU Summit. “We shouldn’t be scared of the worst-case scenario, which is always a possible option, and at the end of the day will be the responsibility of the British ... because at the end of the day until the last second the British government has the possibility to withdraw Article 50 and decide not to leave.”
