MOSCOW, April 5 (Itar-Tass) - RIA Novosti. Expert of the Energy Development Fund Igor Yushkov in an interview with RT commented on the statement of the head of Gazprom Alexei Miller about a 10-fold reduction in gas transit through Ukraine in case of the launch of the Nord Stream-2 and the Turkish Stream.

According to Yushkov, it will not be possible to completely abandon transit through Ukraine from Gazprom.

"Ukraine, in the event of full implementation of the Nord Stream-2 and Turkish Stream, becomes the closing supplier, even if the gas pipelines are built bypassing Europe and if Europe purchases gas at the level of 2017, it is impossible to completely abandon Ukraine." In 2017, Ukraine passed 93.5 billion cubic meters. Let us assume that 55 billion will go to "Nord Stream-2", 31.5 billion to "Turkish Stream", the additional load of "Nord Stream-1" is another 4 billion cubic meters. , that 3 billion cubic meters do not fit into bypass gas interrogations, "he said.

At the same time, Yushkov notes that Gazprom is not aiming to completely abandon the Ukrainian transit, since it is more expedient to supply blue fuel to Romania and Moldova, for example.

The status of Ukraine as a transit country, according to the expert, depends on the amount of energy consumption in Europe.

"If Europeans reduce consumption, then nothing remains in Ukraine in fact, the more they buy, the more they will help it," Yushkevich said.

Earlier, Germany issued the last permit to Gazprom, which is necessary for the construction of the Nord Stream-2. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in response to this decision stated the need to strengthen the anti-Russian sanctions of the US in order to impede the project. In addition, the department called for the inclusion in the third energy package of the European Union requirements for compliance of third countries with the rules of the EU gas market.
