MOSCOW, April 5 (Itar-Tass) - RIA Novosti. The EU refused to support the draft statement prepared by Russia following a special meeting of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) on the Salisbury incident.

"The European Union does not accept the proposed draft decision," the statement posted on the OPCW website says.

The EU noted that they are very concerned about the statement of the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, in which it was said that Moscow would not accept the results of the research that had been conducted in Salisbury by the experts of the OPCW. In addition, the European Union expressed regret that Russia "did not respond positively to the British request to provide the necessary information" to investigate the poisoning of Skripal.

The European Union also expressed full confidence in the UK in connection with the investigation in the case of Skripal.

The OPCW did not support the Russian initiative

The OPCW's Executive Board earlier rejected a joint proposal from Moscow, Beijing and Tehran about a new investigation into the "Skripal case". This was reported by Russia's permanent representative to the organization, Alexander Shulgin.

"Against the British and Americans opposed, then following their example, obediently voted NATO and EU member states, EU member states, NATO members, and also some American allies in Asia," the diplomat said.

The Russian project on the "case of Skripal"

Russia, Iran and China had previously submitted to the OPCW a draft decision on the "Skripal case".

"Today, the draft decision was submitted to the trial of the Executive Council (OPCW - ed.), I emphasize - the joint Russian-Iranian-Chinese draft decision." I want to draw attention to the two provisions of the draft decision - to launch the process of a joint Russia-UK investigation to clarify all issues related to accusations against the Russian Federation on the part of the UK.And the second important point, the executive council was called upon us to entrust to the general director of technical sectors retarate to promote and take all the necessary steps to establish such a joint work, "- said the Russian Permanent Representative to the OPCW, Alexander Shulgin.

The Russian ambassador also noted that Moscow will continue to insist on connecting Russian experts to the investigation of the "Skripal case".

"We asked questions to the technical secretariat, because these are legitimate questions: the charges are brought against Russia, the most serious accusations, incidentally, we spread and publicized them." These are questions not only of the technical secretariat, but also of the UK, numerous questions, and the French that help you. Unfortunately, we do not receive any answers, we are not at all happy with that, so we insist and we will do it so that the investigation would be truly transparent, comprehensive, not biased and necessarily involving Russian Sgiach experts "- Shulgin said.

View the letter from Teresa May

Russia requested a meeting of the UN Security Council on the incident in the British Salisbury, where former colonel GRU Sergei Skripal and his daughter Julia were poisoned, said Russia's permanent representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzia.

"We, at the direction of our government, ask you to convene an open meeting of the Security Council tomorrow at three o'clock on a letter from British Prime Minister Therese May related to the Salisbury incident," Nebenzia addressed the UN Security Council chairman at a meeting on Wednesday.

Incident in Salisbury

In early March 2018, the former GRU officer Sergei Skripal and his daughter Julia found unconscious in the British city of Salisbury. In London, it is argued that the Russian state is involved in the poisoning of the Violins by the nerve agent A234. Moscow categorically denies this, recalling the proximity to the Salisbury chemical laboratory of the British Ministry of Defense.
