WASHINGTON, March 17 (Itar-Tass) - RIA Novosti. State Department spokesman Heather Naouert tweeted about the actions of the Central Election Commission interfered in Russia's internal affairs, the Russian embassy in the United States said.

Previously, Nauert wrote on Twitter that the CEC's refusal to grant observer status to independent media observers shows that the Kremlin is allegedly afraid of transparency ahead of the March 18 elections. At the same time, Nauert did not substantiate her claim.

"On behalf of Russia: the representative of the State Department demonstrated another example of interference in our internal affairs, now it's fake news: A bad attempt to harm Russian democracy will not work." Full transparency of the presidential elections is guaranteed, "the embassy said in an English-language Twitter statement published on Saturday.

The embassy illustrated the message with screenshots of publications of the American media about the non-admission of foreign observers from the OSCE to the polling stations in the states of Alabama and Texas during the elections.

During the elections to the US, both congressional and presidential, the authorities of different states did not allow foreign observers to polling stations, threatening also with the use of force, while the US federal authorities claimed in response to the OSCE protests that nothing could This is done, despite their obligations to this organization, of which Washington is a member.

Earlier, CEC member Yevgeny Shevchenko advised the United States to learn from Moscow the openness and transparency of the elections, and recalled that several hundred thousand observers were accredited for the upcoming presidential election on March 18.

CEC head Ella Pamfilova appealed to the regions with a request not to allow any obstacles to the work of observers from various organizations in the March 18 elections. Pamfilova also met with lawyers Alexei Navalny and assured them that all observers are in demand and she is ready to work with them. Also, the head of the CEC noted that observers can go to work in polling stations in Chechnya, as in any other region of Russia.

The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, in turn, suggested that Navalny personally come to Chechnya on March 18 and be convinced of the absence of falsifications in the presidential elections.

The presidential election will be held on March 18.
