TWO elderly men went missing from their nursing home in Germany, sparking fears for their health.

According to the German news service Deutsche Welle, the nursing home alerted police after they noticed the two men were missing.

Police launched a search, which came to an end at about 3am when the pair were found - at the world’s biggest heavy metal music festival.

It turns out the the pair were heavy metal music fans from way back and had nicked off to join the 75,000-strong crowd at the four-day Wacken Open Air festival.

And they were none too pleased to be heading home early.

DW reports that the men were reluctant to leave the festival so police escorted them home with the help of a taxi and a patrol car.

The village of Wacken, in Germany’s north, has hosted the world’s biggest heavy metal festival annually since 1990.
