FACEBOOK trolls have unleashed their bile on Anthony Maslin — the devastated Perth father who lost his three children and father-in-law in the MH17 disaster.

Otis, Evie and Mo Maslin, their grandpop Nick Norris and 295 others perished when Russian-backed separatists shot down the Malaysian Airlines jet over the Ukraine four years ago.

Mr Maslin and the children’s mother, Rin Norris, posted special anniversary tributes on the social media platform on Tuesday.

While Ms Norris’ poetic words captured the difficulty of life without her three children, Mr Maslin focused on US President Donald Trump’s contentious Helsinki meeting with Russia counterpart Vladimir Putin.

In an open letter to the leader of the Free World, Mr Maslin urged Mr Trump to concentrate on “irrefutable facts” that Russia was responsible for the deaths of his children and father-in-law”.

“That the man whose arse you’ve just been kissing did this and continues to lie about it, is an irrefutable fact,” he wrote.

While his post was shared more than 10,000 times and liked by 15,000 others around the world, some accused the WA businessman of being “sick” and “pathetic” by using “his children’s deaths to score a point against Trump”.

“Anthony could have made his point but he discredits himself by making it political and repeating lies,” one posted on Mr Maslin’s personal Facebook page. Another described Mr Maslin’s post as a “forum to bash the President” while another said that while she was “sad and sorry that you lost your three children”, playing the “blame game will not bring them back.”

However, the sentiments of Tanja Van Der Woude summed up the overwhelming support for Mr Maslin’s heartfelt message.

“Please people, before you share your comments, read carefully and think about your reply twice,” she said. “Put yourself in this father’s feelings first before you share your comments. This is a father’s post, show some respect.”

Others, some of whom had lost children, told the Maslins they had great support around the world. “We all think about you, all those who died and their loved ones. This will never be forgotten and we should all keep the faith that in the end the people who did this will be convicted,” said one.

Foreign Minister Julie Bishop told The Sunday Times yesterday that the Australian Government remains committed to seeking justice.

“We have attributed State responsibility to Russia and we are seeking to negotiate with Russia over its role in the downing of MH17.”
