A BRIT tourist who falsely claimed compensation for being ill on his holiday has been ordered to pay £20,000 after his con fell through.

Justin Miller was rumbled after TUI discovered snaps of him enjoying a beer and smiling on Facebook when he claimed his trip had been ruined.

The 40-year-old had visited Cape Verde and claimed he suffered from diarrhoea, stomach cramps, vomiting and fever, the Daily Mirror reports.

Miller from Penarth, South Wales, stayed at five-star Hotel Riu Touareg in Boa Vista, Cape Verde.

But after he made his claim, Tui found online snaps of him complimenting the food and beverages at the hotel.

One of the photos he posted from the hotel's restaurant read: “Nice bit of grub. Best Chinese food I’ve had.”

Another snap was captioned: “Little beer while waiting for the gang.”

His claim turned was proven false after the photos were found on his Facebook page.

Cardiff County Court found him to be “fundamentally dishonest” and he was ordered to pay £19,025.

Andrew Flintham, of Tui, said: “We’ve continued to do all that we can to put a stop to fake sickness cases.”
