A BODY of a Brisbane woman who drowned in Bali will be brought back home thanks to the more than 800 people who donated the money to pay for her final journey.

Kristen Mace was just days short of her 20th birthday when she suffered a possible seizure, hit her head and fell into a pool at a Seminyak villa on Sunday.

The accident happened just three weeks after her mother Jodie Mace died from cancer.

A GoFundMe campaign started by friends to help pay for repatriation and funeral costs hit $60,860 with donations from 656 people in just one day.

Her father, Justin, has travelled to Indonesia to bring his daughter home.

"We had a really special bond," he told ABC radio on Wednesday.

"Krissy was very unique, she was the life of a party, funny, very funny, and she had a really interesting slant on life and I'm really really going to miss that."

It is not yet known what caused her death, but Mr Mace said Kristen had a history of epilepsy that could be triggered by sunlight.
