US President Donald Trump has launched into another aggressive Twitter rant as he returned to his lavish Mar-a-Lago resort property in Florida.

Tweeting on Friday morning (local time) as he readied himself for some more time on his West Palm Beach golf course, the president demanded Democrats and Republicans “MUST come together, finally, with a major Border Security package, which will include funding for the Wall.”

He said it’s “time for action,” even though the idea is opposed by many Democrats, who recently won control of the House.

Mr Trump also called on Congress to pass criminal justice reform legislation.

He says Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Democratic leader Chuck Schumer “have a real chance to do something so badly needed in our country.”

But embarrassingly, Mr Trump tweeted at the wrong account, tagging a Schumer fan instead of the senator.

The US president’s Twitter tirade came a day after Americans celebrated thanksgiving, with Mr Trump spending his day calling troops, answering reporters’ questions, visiting a Coast Guard station and dining at his Mar-a-Lago club.

He also used thanksgiving to warn reporters he would use “lethal force” at the border to control the migrant caravan situation.

“If we find that it gets to a level where we lose control or people are going to start getting hurt, we’re going to close entry into the country for a period of time until we get it under control,” he said.

In another controversial outburst, Mr Trump then told reporters that perhaps “the world”, not the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, should be held accountable for the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

It comes as the price of oil plunged on Friday, adding to recent losses, nosediving 7 per cent to a one-year-low

Experts say the US is increasing pressure on Saudi Arabia and OPEC to not cut production, as the Saudis had indicated they would, at their meeting in Vienna on December 6.

Donald Trump may have some leverage by not sanctioning Saudi Arabia over the death of dissident writer Khashoggi.

With oil supply already ample, that could push prices down further.

TRUMP LOSES BID TO DISMISS LAWSUIT
On Friday, a New York State judge rejected Donald Trump’s request to dismiss a lawsuit in which New York’s Attorney-General accuses him of misusing his charity, the Donald J. Trump Foundation, to benefit his 2016 presidential campaign.

Justice Saliann Scarpulla said that Attorney-General Barbara Underwood was free to pursue claims against the Trump Foundation.

Justice Underwood says she welcomed Justice Scarpulla’s ruling, stating, “The Trump Foundation functioned as little more than a chequebook to serve Mr Trump’s business and political interests.”

Mr Trump’s children, Donald Jr, Ivanka, and Eric are also implicated as defendants and aides in the case.
