THERESA May will lobby Emmanuel Macron and Angela Merkel to help her out on Brexit during a mini-tour of Europe tomorrow.

No10 has announced the PM is heading to Berlin tomorrow morning and will then continue to Paris.

The visit comes ahead of a crunch showdown with every EU leader on Wednesday where Mrs May will beg for another delay to Brexit.

Mr Macron is threatening to veto the extension - or force Britain to stay for a year without getting a vote on the EU's decisions.

The PM will meet Mrs Merkel tomorrow morning, 10 Downing Street confirmed today.

In the afternoon she will talk to Mr Macron, seen as the most hardline of all European leaders.

Mrs May will also hold phone calls with other EU chiefs over the next 24 hours.

She will travel to Brussels for the European Council on Wednesday evening, where the EU will formally consider the PM's request for a further extension to Article 50.

The news of Mrs May's tour suggests she may have scrapped plans to hold a fresh Commons vote on Brexit to try and find a compromise.

The PM's aides have been locked in talks with Labour which could lead to Britain staying in the customs union.

Mr Macron is striking a tough line in response to the UK's request to delay Brexit until June 30.

He has threatened to veto the extension - or to take away Britain's right to vote on key EU rules and leadership decisions during it.

But in a sign of EU splits, Irish PM Leo Varadkar warned that if another leader caused a No Deal Brexit, "they wouldn't be forgiven for it".

If the European Council does block the delay, Britain will leave without a deal this Friday.
