POLICE are investigating the unexplained deaths of two men found 300 yards apart on Thursday.

Officers in Stoke-on-Trent said the deaths are “potentially linked” as forensic teams continue their investigations.

The bodies were discovered near an allotment and a house.

Police were called to reports of a body near an allotment in Burslem at 1:20pm.

While making their enquiries, police found a second body at a house 300 yards away at about 3:50pm.

Next-of-kin have been informed and specially-trained officers are providing support, Staffordshire Police said.

Detectives and forensic teams are working together to establish a series of events.

Detective Chief Inspected Jason Everett said that he does not believe there is any reason for the community to worry.

He said: "We do not believe there is any ongoing threat or risk to any member of the public and we would ask for everyone to remain calm.

"We will maintain a scene at Barnfield Road overnight and neighbourhood officers are completing door-to-door inquiries to gather information and provide reassurance to the local community.

"If you do know anything about either incident or have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area in the last day or so, please contact 101 quoting incident number 378 of 11 October.

"In addition if you have outwardly-facing CCTV or dashcam footage in the neighbourhood, please get in touch."
