A GRIEVING father of a baby who was killed when a 10-year-old girl allegedly stomped on his head has said the schoolgirl is a criminal and should be held responsible.

Jaxon Liedl was just six months old when he died in hospital after suffering severe injuries two days before at a daycare centre in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.

A 10-year-old girl is accused of dropping him and then stamping on his head when he cried out.

The schoolgirl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with the tot’s murder.

She cried as she was brought into courtroom last week.

Jaxon's dad Nate told ABC7 he went to that court appearance because he wanted the girl to see his face.

Nate said: "As opposed to seeing it as a 10-year-old girl, I saw it as the person who killed my son.

"She, in my opinion, deserved to be in shackles or handcuffs. She's a criminal."

Mr Liedl said he does not blame the daycare for his son's death.

Police said the girl, who is a foster child who lived at the daycare centre, was alone in the house at the time while everyone else was outside playing on November 1.

Paramedics arrived at the daycare centre to find Jaxon unconscious with a bleeding head injury.

Nates said doctors prepared him for the worst which caught him “completely off guard”.

He said: "I had sent a couple messages out to family to let them know that Jaxon's not going to make it.

“I remember, I broke down out there pretty bad. Yeah, it really hit hard," Liedl said.

"I waited 37 years for my own little baby boy. I was extremely lucky because he didn't cry, no fussing, he was happy smiles all the time."

Jaxon's funeral was held on Thursday.
