A man has died after crashing his bicycle into a barrier at Crafers West this morning.

Police and emergency services were called to Mount Barker Rd, just after the turn-off to Eagle On The Hill from the expressway, about 9.45am on Sunday.

Paramedics tried to revive the 46-year-old Woodcroft man but he died at the scene. There were no other vehicles involved in the crash.

Mount Barker Rd is currently closed for west bound traffic while Major Crash investigators examine the scene.

The man’s death is SA’s fifth fatality since Thursday and takes the state’s road toll to 80, compared to 100 at the same time last year.

On Saturday, Adam Joseph, 21, died after he was struck by a white Mercedes-Benz sedan on Black Rd at O’Halloran Hill.

He was returning from the Victoria Hotel with a group of friends when he was hit about 4am.

On Friday, a Queensland man died after being hit by a car Salisbury North.

Emergency services were called to Waterloo Corner Rd, just before 2am. The 24-year-old man died at the scene.

On Thursday, an elderly couple died after their car crashed head-on into a truck — sparking a grass fire — at Hope Gap, between Redhill and Snowtown in the state’s Mid North.

The Port Pirie couple — a 76-year-old female driver and her 90-year-old male passenger — died at the scene.
