At least five German courts in the cities of Kiel, Erfurt and Magdeburg have received bomb threats.

The courts of Magdeburg and Erfurt are being evacuated due to the threats that had been sent via e-mail, the daily Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung reports.

The court in Kiel received a similar threat overnight, the paper said, adding that police were searching the building with dogs.

Police in the western state of Hesse today said on Twitter that it had evacuated a courthouse in the city of Wiesbaden after a suspicious object had been found.

And a regional court in Potsdam also received a bomb threat via email, police said.

What we know so far:
Authorities are combing the premises of the courthouses with dogs.

Police said the anonymous assailant or assailants had threatened to detonate explosive devices at the various regional courts.

In Wiesbaden, a suspicious package was discovered at the courthouse. Police have blocked roads in the surrounding area.

Police are trying to determine the source of the threatening emails.
