A COUPLE are trying to sell their new-build home on Facebook for £50k less than they paid for it because it's an "absolute s***hole".

Johnathan and Jillian Widlake moved from South Wales to Devon after securing a £27k deposit on their dream £300k home last June.

But after living at the property for just ten months, the couple and their ten-year-old son have been left "in tears and unable to sleep at night", Devon Live reported.

They claim the Wainhomes property in Honeymead Meadows, South Molton, was riddled with faults including leaky windows, blocked drains, warped floors and even unpainted walls when they arrived.

They also claim staff have been dismissing their complaints, delaying repair work appointments and delivering poor customer service.

Furious, Jillian launched a Facebook Marketplace advert which reads: "Anyone want this absolute s***hole of a house built by an absolute joke of a company Wainhomes who don't give a flying f*** that they sell houses that are failing apart.

"Drains don't work so no toilets, all floors are bowed, windows leak, cost £300k, you can have it for £250k but looks like a building site located honey mead meadows South Molton."

The family were previously living in accommodation provided by the Ministry of Defence.

They were forced to wait nine months after putting their deposit on the property, before they could move in because staff insisted builders were still working on the site.

When they finally arrived with their belongings, they opened the doors to find workmen "finishing off jobs", throughout the house.

A number of appliances did not work, including the fridge freezer, dishwasher and washing machine.

Alex Hugo, managing director of Wainhomes said: "We were disappointed to see the Facebook advert, having been in regular communication with the customer over recent months.

"We have visited the property several times to discuss concerns and have carried out a range of works, some of which over and above what is legally required, as a gesture of goodwill.

"We take customer complaints very seriously and, as such, have offered a meeting with our contracts manager and customer service manager to discuss any outstanding issues face-to-face.

"We are committed to ensuring any outstanding works are completed swiftly."
