AN UNSUSPECTING couple found themselves face-to-face with the world’s media earlier today — after leaving the Lindo Wing with their newborn baby.

The proud parents were confronted by a wall of photographers and TV crews assembled outside St. Mary’s Hospital in London after The Duchess of Cambridge, who has given birth to a 8lb 7oz baby boy, arrived there earlier.

According to The Sun, they posed happily for snaps with their new arrival safely stowed in a car seat by their feet.

It gave the waiting media chance to practise their shots after Kate was admitted in the early hours of the morning.

She gave birth to her third child at 11:01am.

It is understood that William may bring Prince George and Princess Charlotte to see their new brother later this afternoon.

Kate and Wills have posed for snaps on the steps on the Lindo Wing twice previously. With Prince George in 2013 and Charlotte two years later.

The Royal family are said to be delighted with the news, with the Queen informed of the fifth-in-line to the throne’s arrival earlier today.

In a statement, Kensington Palace said: “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 1101hrs.

“The baby weighs 8 lbs 7oz.

“The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.”

They added: “The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news.”

The Queen today celebrated the birth of her latest great-grandchild with a horse back ride at Windsor Castle.

It’s the first time in history that a boy will not precede his older sister in the line of succession, with Princess Charlotte remaining fourth, behind brother George.
