KATIE TAYLOR received some inspirational words from Conor McGregor when the MMA star visited the boxing ace’s dressing room before her world title defence against Cindy Serrano in Boston.

McGregor is a long-time huge Taylor fan and caught up with the decorated puncher ahead of last night’s impressive win at the TD Garden.

He said: “This is my first time watching you live and I’m very excited.

“You are a credit to our country, know that we’re all with you.

“I’m here for you Katie, just you.”

Former Olympic champ Taylor went on to deliver an assured performance in a 10-round unanimous decision victory.

All three judges scored the bout 100-90 in Taylor’s favour.

The 32-year-old took her pro record to 11-0 and felt it was an easy night’s work, saying: “She was very defensive. I expected more from Cindy tonight.”

After the bout, McGregor went back to the dressing room to congratulate Katie and took to Instagram to heap praise on one of Irish sport’s biggest stars.

“Promoter Eddie Hearn and manager Brian Peters you both better be making sure our champion is looked after and guided fairly and correctly up that money tree as her activity is constant and consistent.

“This lady is an asset and should be treated as such.

“We are watching. Great work team Katie! #IrelandChampion”
