Coles has revealed the “hot spots” for the elusive “red hands” from its Little Shop collection.

With only days left until the hugely popular miniature grocery phenomenon ends, the supermarket giant has revealed the places where those lucky enough to find the rarest in the miniature groceries collection are from.

The red hand can be exchanged for a $100 gift card for the supermarket. Only 1000 of the pieces were created and about 400 are believed to remain in circulation.

The plastic pieces are given out among the Little Shop minis which are handed out to shoppers spending more than $30.

Collectors have been trying desperately to get hold of the piece, taking to online forums to share advice on where to find it. Some even flagged the possibility the existence of the piece was a myth, since there was no space for it in the Little Shop display case.

While the stores where the items have been found are unclear, shoppers in Perth’s northern suburbs have managed to pick up more of the red hands than those in other parts of WA.

Clarkson and Quinns Rocks are areas where at least two of the red hands have been found. The nearest Coles store to the two suburbs is the Ocean Keys store in Clarkson. Shoppers living in Yokine and Upper Swan have also been lucky in finding the rare pieces.

Coles will repeat its Little Shop promotion next year after it became enormously popular with shoppers who turned to eBay to try and buy the final pieces to complete their collection.

Swap days were also held for people wanting to trade the pieces and several online groups have been formed for shoppers to try and fill their collections.

The launch of the craze drew the ire of some consumers who attacked the store for giving away the plastic toys while at the same time pushing a ban on plastic carrier bags.

The Little Shop promotion is being held until the toys run out, which, for most stores, is expected to be next week.
