Drug kingpin Tony Mokbel is believed to have been released from hospital, more than a week after he was allegedly stabbed in a Victorian prison.

News Corp reports a Royal Melbourne Hospital spokeswoman confirmed the 53-year-old gangland figure had left the hospital.

The hospital would not elaborate on when he left or what condition he was in.

Mokbel was left fighting for life on February 11 after allegedly being beaten and stabbed. Two inmates have been charged over the attack.

The jailhouse stabbing attack will be investigated by a former NSW anti-corruption commissioner.
