FORMER boxing champ Chris Eubank has become a police officer in America — despite being arrested twice in the UK.

The 52-year-old is now a city marshal in Opelousas, Louisiana.

Eubank has had no formal police training but is officially allowed to arrest people.

The ex-world super-middleweight champ has been touring the Deep South, giving lectures on how to “peacefully defuse difficult situations”.

A source said: “Chris is over the moon with his new roles and takes them very seriously. He may have had run-ins with the law but he is a reformed character and hoping to spread peace across America.

"He is lecturing on how to defuse messy situations using words, not punches, which is ironic given his background.”

Eubank landed the badge after being introduced to a ranking official through a “friend of a friend”.

Yet in 2005, he was arrested after taking a beer lorry without consent, after threatening to “deck” the driver.

He was found guilty of illegally driving without the owner’s consent, but cleared of aggravated vehicle taking and given an absolute discharge.

And two years later, he was nicked after driving his American truck to Downing Street in a protest against the military occupation of Ira.
