VOGUE Australia is taking the lead in the inclusive new world of fashion.

With the coverline “Uniting Australian Fashion”, the glossy magazine’s April issue features four models who reflect the diversity of the industry.

“Despite being a multicultural country, we have long subscribed to a homogenous standard of beauty,” editor in chief Edwina McCann told The Sunday Telegraph.

“Charlee Fraser, Akiima, Fernanda Ly and Andreja Pejic prove that thinking — and casting — is archaic.

“Vogue has documented Australia’s most successful models for almost six decades and this month’s cover is extra-special because of the extraordinary women it features together. Australian beauties, both male and female, feature heavily on the international runways, but never before have we seen so many homegrown models at the top of their game from such diverse backgrounds.

“It felt timely to celebrate that fact, because it truly reflects who we are.”

Fraser is indigenous Australian, Ly is of Chinese-Australian heritage, and Akiima was born in a Kenyan refugee camp before her parents moved Down Under. Pejic is one of our most in-demand models. She is also transgender.

Vogue Australia’s April issue is in stores from March 26.
