NEW CCTV footage has emerged of the moment a devastating magnitude 7.5 earthquake hit the Indonesian island of Sulawesi.

The footage posted to YouTube shows buildings shaking and cracks appearing in the road late last month.

A woman wearing a red jacket can be seen running out onto the road, unsteady on her feet as the ground shifts beneath her.

It’s all over within a minute or so, with the footage showing people rushing out onto the street to see the immediate impact.
Hundreds of people are still missing in Central Sulawesi, with many homes swallowed by a phenomenon called soil liquification.

This quake hit Sulawesi on September 28 and days later, on August 5, another earthquake struck the nearby island of Lombok, killing more than 560 people.

One of the quakes triggered a 3m-tall tsunami.

The death toll from the quakes stands at more than 2000, with more than 150,000 families affected.

The World Bank announce earlier this week that it would provide up to $1.4 billion in loans to Indonesia to aid the relief and reconstruction efforts in the region.
