Brit family ‘forced to sit on FLOOR of plane for entire two hour flight'

A FAMILY were forced to sit on the floor for their entire flight home as their paid-for seat did not exist.

The Taylors, who forked out £1,300 on their family holiday to Menorca, had to spend the two hour TUI flight back to Birmingham on the “filthy” floor.

Paula, 44, and husband Ian, 55, were offered “jump” seats by the flight attendants for take-off and landing, while daughter Brooke, 10, was given the last spare seat.

Paula, from Alcester, Warwickshire, told BBC One’s Rip-Off Britain, Holidays, said: “We made sure we were three hours early at the airport to check in early just to make sure we got seats together.

"We went straight to the front and we were very excited the fact we had managed to sit together.

"It's hard and it's uncomfortable and it's just filthy.

“We just couldn't believe it when we realised that there genuinely weren't any seats for us.”

Mrs Taylor added: "We all just looked at each other As if to say where's our seats gone? There are no seats where our seats should be!"

The family were offered £30 by TUI as a "goodwill gesture" and they offered to refund their tickets.

TUI airlines said a "last minute aircraft change" caused the issue.

The Civil Aviation Authority said passengers are not allowed to be left unseated at any stage of a flight and they are probing TUI for answers.

Mrs Taylor added: "The co-pilot came and sat with us on the floor and said he just wanted to thank us for our co-operation and understanding.'

"He said that how calm we were and he was so grateful because he would have had to, he would have missed the time slot take off."
