A MUM tricked a thief into giving back her son's stolen bike — and even got him to deliver it to her.

Jemma Shaw spotted the bicycle for sale on Facebook just hours after it was stolen on Sunday.

Her BMX-loving son, 12, was devastated after his prized bike was nicked by two yobs at a play park in Cleethorpes, Lincs.

The thieves chatted to the young lad for nearly an hour, luring him into handing over his BMX — but then quickly made off with it.

The heartbroken boy rushed home to tell mum Jemma who immediately took to social media to raise the alarm and appeal for witnesses.

She scoured the internet to find any clues that could lead to the whereabouts of the bike.

But she was stunned to find that it had been offered up for sale on a Grimsby swap-and-sell page on Facebook — less than 24 hours after it was stolen.

Jemma decided to make an offer for £100 to buy the bike as part of a ruse to humiliate the thieves.

An unsuspecting yob agreed to the price and even offered to deliver the bike to her.

But little did he know that he would be filmed walking the bike into the house — before being confronted over the heartless theft.

Luring the thief into lying about how he came across the bike, footage shows Jemma asking him how long he has owned it.

The lout replies that he's "owned it for ages" — but soon begins to panic when he is quizzed further.

He soon catches on to the plan and says "OK" before scarpering from the house.

Jemma told Grimsby Live: "I really couldn't believe my eyes when this man turned up at my house wheeling my son's bicycle.

"I understand that what I did could have been dangerous, but I have a big dog in the house that keeps me safe, and I just wanted to show my son that you don't have to be scared of these people and that you can stand up to them without being violent.

"It is disgusting that these people would go up to a young child playing in the park with the sole intention of stealing their bicycle."

She added: "I hope that this thief has now learned his lesson, and won't go around picking on other young children."

A Humberside Police spokesperson said: "We always encourage anyone who has had any property stolen to call us in the first instance and report it.

"This can be done by 101, or anonymously on 0800 555 111 on Crimestoppers."
