A TEN-YEAR-OLD boy is in hospital after being hit by a car in South East London this morning.

Ambulance crews rushed to the scene on Lewisham High Street just before 8am.

The boy was then taken to a South London hospital for treatment.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 7:58am today to Lewisham High Street to reports of a road traffic collision involving a pedestrian.

“We sent two ambulance crews to the scene.

"We treated a child at the scene and took them as a priority to a major trauma centre."

Police have cordoned off the scene. Buses and cars have been diverted.

A Met Police spokesperson confirmed they had been called about 8am to reports of a collision between a car and a pedestrian.

They said: "The pedestrian, a ten-year-old boy, has been taken to a South London hospital.

"We await an update on his condition.

"Road closures are in place. Enquiries continue."
