A VICIOUS assault upon a pubgoer – who was glassed in the head from behind – has resulted in her attacker being caged for seven-and-a-half-years.

Thug Stuart Cunliffe, 27, was speaking with a woman at the Rose and Crown in Chorley, Lancashire, when he suddenly attacked her – shocking CCTV footage reveals.

A spokeswoman for North West Crown Prosecution Service said Cunliffe was sentenced to seven years and six months for two counts of wounding with intent.

On the pub's CCTV footage, Cunliffe can be standing near the woman in the packed Rose and Crown, when she suddenly pushes him away, on December 21 last year.

He can be seen exploding into a rage in the video, throwing the contents of his pint at her.

Cunliffe then raises his glass high into the air with his right arm, before crashing it down on the woman’s head while she is walking away from him.

As a result, part of the pint glass was sent flying in to the face of another female pub patron, also injuring her, reports Mail Online.

The disturbing video shows the second victim holding her face in pain, as a shard of glass had pierced her face.

Fellow drinkers went to the aid of both injured women.

After sentencing on February 19, a person who saw the aftermath of the glass attack said that everyone had been enjoying a pre-Christmas drink.

The witness added: “All of a sudden, I heard an almighty crash and turned around to see some bloke in a hat being hauled away by a group of men.

“People were focusing on the girl who had been glassed, and didn’t immediately realise the poor girl with blonde hair had glass in her face.”
