Apple’s Siri will soon be always on

Rumours are circulating that the next generation of the iMac Pro will use Apple’s A10 Fusion processor and will come with its voice assistant Siri always on and ready to hear your whispered, dulcet tones.

But that will come at a price and a hefty one at that - PC Mag reckons that it will set you back $5,000. The unit is near to release so you had better go to your counting house and see whether there’s enough cash in there to sustain Apple’s extravagant lifestyle.

The A10 Fusion is a custom designed ARM processor with 64 bit capability and so providing the kind of oomph that an always on Siri requires.

Presumably you can turn Siri off - these voice assistants can become jolly irritating and don’t always come up with the right answer anyway.

It appears that a more important feature in the computer is SecureBoot, a feature that is a whole new change of direction for the iMac Pro.

Apple said earlier this year that the iMac Pro is likely to be available in December, so perhaps Santa will stuff one into your stocking for you to wake up wondering how he manages to lug all these machines around with just reindeer and a sleigh.
