The online hacktivist Anonymous hacked and defaced the the official website of Montreal Police Union (Fraternité des policiers et policières de Montréal) website against the approval of anti-terror law C-51 that weakens Internet privacy.

Anonymous also breached into the official website of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Canada and leaked personal information of government officials.

Anonymous left a deface page along with a video message on the hacked Montreal Police Union website, featuring message against the Canadian government and its steps to provide Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) immense powers to violate digital privacy of any one at any time in the name of countering terrorism.

This is the second cyber attack on Canadian government website conducted by Anonymous.

On June 18, 2015, the hacktivists shut down the online official portal canada.ca, Department of Finance and Treasury Board, the department responsible for the day-to-day administrative duties of the federal public service.
