DASH-CAM footage has captured the moment a light plane was forced to land on a busy freeway in northern California.

The pilot attributes the emergency landing to a rupture of the fuel line, causing the plane to immediately lose pressure.

The family who took the dash-cam vision say it appeared the plane waited for a gap in the traffic, before making its move on to the freeway in San Leandro, near San Francisco.

Remarkably, no cars were struck in the emergency landing — and the pilot and passenger on board were able to escape safely, with just one of the people on board suffering minor injuries.

The California Highway Patrol released helicopter vision of the landing, showing the plane parked in the emergency lane as cars drive by.
