STAR royal biographer Andrew Morton has been rushed to hospital after suffering a suspected stroke while on stage at an event in London — just days before the royal wedding.

The Sun reports that Princess Diana’s closest journalistic confidante, who has just published a tell-all book on Meghan Markle, is believed to be at the University College London Hospitals seeking urgent treatment.

A source close to the author revealed: “He is very unwell. We don’t know what’s wrong at the moment and he’s undergoing tests.”

Morton, who is thought to be 65, was delivering a speech at The Oldie Literary Lunch in Central London on the royal family when the emergency medical situation occurred.

A source at the event said: “Andrew was five minutes into his speech about Wallis Simpson when he lost concentration.

“He forgot what he was saying, was sweating and started to sway. He ended up getting carted off from The Strand in the back of an ambulance and taken to UCLH.”

“People are saying it’s a suspected stroke.”

Andrew was due to attend an event this evening to discuss his latest book Meghan: A Hollywood Princess in Chelsea, west London

Waterstones King’s Road tweeted: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have been forced the Andrew Morton event. Sadly, we were left with no other option — please accept our sincerest apologies. We are offering refunds to all ticketholders so do pop in. Many thanks.”

The British journalist has published several biographies on the Royals, including Princess Diana and Prince William, as well as David and Victoria Beckham, since he quit Fleet Street in 1987.

He’s also written tell-all books on Tom Cruise and Madonna.

During his career in Fleet Street, Andrew worked for the Daily Star, News of the World and Daily Mail.

He previously studied history at Sussex University.

Morton’s latest book about Meghan Markle says the soon-to-be royal was fascinated by the family.

Her childhood friend Ninaki Priddy told the author she wanted to be “Diana 2.0”.

However, the book also includes controversial claims that she ditched her old pals, including film producer husband Trevor Engleson, when she found fame as an actress and she is described as a “fastidious” and “controlling” social climber by another former close ally.
