A fake email from American Express warns users of an ‘Unusual Activity’ on their account – The email asks users to click the link in email body, put their information so their account can be secured from hackers.. but actually the email is fake and website in the email body is a phishing link.

A suspicious activity is being reported nowadays by the users of American Express service. The users are receiving an email from a fake AmEx email address.

Such fake email addresses usually contain the word American Express or its variables in them to trick the users into believing that the email is from the official source.


As per this email, some unusual account activity on your account has given rise to serious security, therefore you are required to click the given link for logging in and securing your account.


But, this email is definitely not from American Express. It is a widespread phishing scam which is designed to fool you into sending your financial and personal information to the notorious cyber criminals. Clicking on the link will take you to a fake American Express website which will ask you to submit your credit card information, contact and personal details.

That fake website is made by hackers as a tools to steal sensitive online information to use it for various criminal activities and their financial gains. If you submit these details on that fake website, they will be received by the criminals who will use them to commit identity theft and credit card fraud.


If you ever receive such emails, never click any of the links nor open attachments which are contained in those emails. The attachments usually sent in those emails include malwares or other virus softwares which get incorporated into your operating system. The hackers can then use those softwares to steal the data saved into your computer and to retrieve their required information which may be personal details, contact details or your financial details such as credit card numbers and their passwords.
