Police in eastern India have arrested 22 people in three separate teenage rape cases, authorities said.

One case involved a 16-year-old female rape victim who was burned to death after a mob set fire to her home. Police arrested 15 people in Chatra, Jharkhand on Thursday.

A suspect was also arrested in West Bengal after a 17-year-old girl was raped and set on fire on Friday. Six people were also arrested in Odisha state over the gang-rape of a 14-year-old girl. The arrests come a month after the government approved the death penalty for the rape of girls under 12 years old.
