What is the purpose of PRedb.me or predb.org

i just came across these sites www.predb.org & www.predb.me!! Do anyone knows here what is the purpose of these websites!

It's pretty much a database/archive of all scene releases so you can check if/when something has been released. There are quite a lot of them on the net nowadays and each serve a slightly different purpose. Predb.me has a nice interface but it lacks important information that I'm after like nfo files and which sites have uploaded the release.

But where do they get their info?
i mean how do they know that scene groups released something ?
are they part of the scene

I think they have access to the IRC announce channels or to the FTP top sites.
