Huge blow on the planet illegal downloading. Two of the largest download and streaming sites announced yesterday that they will be closing their doors permanently, to the great regret of their very many visitors. We say goodbye to Zone-Téléchargement and its colleague Tirexo…
Tirexo and Zone-Téléchargement close their doors.
It is with a heavy, very heavy heart that we write these lines. The news has been circulating all over the internet since yesterday, and we have not escaped it (thank you to our dear readers who shared the information with us!). We feel like orphans today at Nextwarez.

Joking aside, if it were already becoming more and more complicated for French Internet users to download content online or watch movies and series in streaming, the task looks even more difficult. Indeed, this Monday, April 25, we woke up to very sad news: two of the main players in the sector, namely Zone-Téléchargement and Tirexo, have announced their dismantling .

If the official reasons for these closures have not been communicated by the respective teams, the ZT teams nevertheless wanted to send a final message to their fans.
But why did Tirexo and Zone-Téléchargement close?
Through its press release, Zone-Téléchargement already lays the foundations, it is not a hoax, the site is closing permanently. But what about the reasons that prompted ZT to close? You knew it, the site had already been dismantled in 2016, with a first closure which had been much commented on at the time following the arrests of the administrators .

This time, we don't know if it's a court decision that pushes ZT to go out of business. Could it be an Arcom shot? Nobody can say it at the moment, but we have that Zone-Téléchargement was undoubtedly in the crosshairs of the authorities because placed in the Top 3 of the platforms most used by Internet users according to the Association for the fight against audiovisual piracy (Alpa).

Classification of illegal sites according to Alpa
On the Tirexo side, we may know a little more. Thanks to the work of journalist Trisant Brossat who shared the information on his Twitter account, we can assume that the Tirexo teams wished to close the site before a possible seizure by the authorities, which would have repercussions on its members.
Here are the current comments that we can make on these two simultaneous closures, and the reasons that led the administrators to put an end to these two pirate adventures. More info in the days to come most certainly.
