Careful with external links from this site if you Torrent with the same IP as you browse...you might be clicking on something like this:

The above is not a real link (cause I don't want to get banned), but can you see the problem with it? You don't have to click on it (you shouldn't anyways, which is my point...don't click on such stuff unless you know it is safe). Also, I am being deliberately obvious with this example so it shouldn't fool anyone.

Mind you, I am not saying anyone is doing such things, but just a general word of warning to those that use the same IP for coming to this site (even if on a different computer) and doing their Torrents. Just be careful when you are asked to follow an external links.

Just to drive it home. Here is a site that shows you your IP. Pretty common one:

Now, imagine that instead of it going to www.whatsmyip.org the link took you to some tracker spy site. Well, that means that you just told the tracker spy your IP. Moreover, you won't know it because it he will have actually used a real image to show you so it seems all normal like.

Oh, this makes me wonder whether or not vBulletin will embed images with its server IP or if the embedded images will be gotten by the clients tracker. This could be very bad. Like we have a thread called "100 Numbers" where users post images counting up to 100. Its fun, but if even one of those embedded images is on a trackers spy site then anyone that even views that thread will have given their IP to the spy. Of course, this all depends on whether the IP that gets the embedded images is the TorrentInvites server or if it is the client computer.

I haven't read through all the posts yet, so this is probably already addressed by someone, but if not then it could be a bit of a problem. Again, it doesn't effect me because I am using a VPN, but anyone that is using their same IP for both browsing this site and for torrenting might have trouble (thats probably most people). It wouldn't even matter that you were keeping your browsing on a different computer. The IP would be known to the spy.

Let me go take a peak at that "100 numbers" thread to see if there is anything that looks fishy.

Interesting that the person that started that "100 Numbers" thread was banned. Maybe we should start another thread on this topic if one does not already exist.
