    I never donate to a tracker who always cries for donations. And I will repeat that.
    Many trackers are asking for donations all the time. Really all the time.
    I can't be sure about their intentions, that's why I will not donate to these trackers.

    Besides, there are some very respectable trackers, that they only ask for donation very rarely, once a year f.e, and in a very discreet and not annoying way.
    So, they have my donation without further thinking!

    The most important thing, though, is that we must not forget that users are not supposed or obliged to finance a tracker!
    It is the owner's matter! Anyone who wants to own a tracker, starts a tracker because he wants to, because he likes it, because that gives him pleasure.
    What would you think If I have a hobby like hiking, and ask you and other users to pay for my hiking equipment ?

    Anyway, I guess that anyone who can afford it, will think about donating to trackers who, in his opinion, they deserve it.
    As a reward of their status, and not as an obligation.

    Best regards.

    I've said this before and I'll say it again, I think it is detrimental to keep donating to trackers when the owners start crying for it. One, you never know where the money really goes and two, it breeds a case of complacency and inefficiency.

    There have been a couple of cases now where owners claim their site will go under without donations. This happens month after month and you wonder why is this always the case? When users start questioning their motives they instantly get banned. This leaves me feeling sick to the stomach because trackers are meant to be about sharing not profits. Also, this may be true, may be not, but I believe trackers that don't always beg for donations realise that the best way they can get more people to donate is by improving their site. Whether its better content, faster servers, livelier community, special deals to a seedbox co etc.; people will acknowledge these things and feel a need to contribute as a way of saying thanks. It's called a donation not a subscription but I feel like more and more trackers are combining the terms.

    Back to the original topic, I feel HDME's community isn't so bad. You have to remember these are niche trackers, and you can't compare them to general trackers which have 100x more members. Most of the members on HDME have accounts at other trackers where they may be more vocal, while you'll find a lot of people on IPT may only have IPT. Also, it depends what type of community you're looking for. If you want to chat about sport, the news or girls; HD trackers probably aren't the best for this kind of stuff. Even the more vibrant trackers with stronger communities focus most of their conversations around encoding, ripping and HD releases cause this the reason why most of them are members.

    If this what you are after for then definitely take a look at HD-Torrents or AwesomeHD. Most of the stuff they talk about makes no sense to me but I can understand how it will appeal to HD enthusiasts. If you just want to chat about random things find a nice big general tracker or a xxx one, they seem to have some pretty funny discussions

    @RossoBreitner

    I never thought about it from this point of view, that this is the owners hobby. You're right that I wouldn't pay for someone else shoes so why pay for the tracker? I'll be thinking about which trackers I donate to in the future and which ones I don't

    Also I did have a look at the list and I'm going to read through the reviews before I make a final decision about possibly where to park myself. Thank you for your advice.

    @WhiteMamba

    Great advice and suggestions.

    I think your note about trackers that beg for donations but yet they keep on running every month pairs with what @RossoBreitner said which is that these trackers, for the owners, is a hobby for them to pursue and they get pleasure out of running them. If the funds are necessary then there should be alternatives to begging for donations or the donations should be linked to other offers that will benefit the community at large.

    Thanks for the recommendations. I'm going to read some reviews and then make my decision.

    If you want a community, go with the big names: HDBits.org (mission impossible to get there), or BitHDTV, since this one is the biggest and most accessible english private HD tracker after HDBits.org (contentwise and communitywise), as we speak.

    Looking for good tv and movie site as well, but the good sites are closed for signup.
    I am thinking about getting a seedbox soon. Is there any site you can recommend that has lot of content and is easy to join?
