I was debating with a mate and she said she never had the same username on private trackers, like I was mad to.
I personally always had the same one, its got a bit shorter now. How else would you bump into someone you know? (only happened once--but still)

Just wondered what you guys do?

i have the same nick as well...eventually that helps you when you to request an invite and requesting you a ratio proof

why ?

Different username / emails.
Whenever you start joining high level trackers, it is easy to get banned for no reason. This could mean a global ban in several trackers.

Data leak is also another good reason to maintain your anonymity between trackers.

Never been banned myself, but not sure why you would get banned from more than one tracker just because your username is the same in the one you were banned in. They aren't grouped together (so much anymore). If that did happen, not sure I'd want to be on a tracker that shared info on users like that anyway.

It’s not a ban for having the same username.. but even if you do get banned from let’s say a “cabal” tracker, they will share your username.. if that isn’t the same on each tracker they will share your IP and catch you that way.

Ultimately it doesn't make any difference. Trackers will find you by IP address eventually if they want to get you. Now using the same username/password in multiple trackers is a big no no and I'm sure you can understand why
