Perth Glory have never been in a better position under long-time owner Tony Sage.

The W-League team has qualified for this week’s grand final – its third decider in five years – and the A-League side is flying under Tony Popovic, seven points clear on top of the table.

But Sage, who has bankrolled Glory since 2007 for little reward, is far from satisfied.

The boss underlined his hunger for silverware after Sam Kerr fired the women’s team past Melbourne Victory in yesterday’s semifinal.

“We’ve got to win something,” Sage said.

“This game doesn’t win us anything.

“We didn’t win the Premiers’ Plate and we’ve got to win the grand final.

“We’ve been in two grand finals before in the W-League and we didn’t win them, so we haven’t won anything yet.”

Sage lavished praise on marquee striker Kerr after the W-League golden boot winner’s “sensational” hat-trick saw Glory through after extra-time.

“We have to thank the FFA – we couldn’t afford her otherwise – so that’s a fantastic move by them,” Sage said.

“But you can see what she does to the league.

“Already a golden boot winner and another three, all of them were magnificent.”

Sage said he had “100 per cent” faith Glory could cause another upset away to Sydney FC in the decider.

“You could just see the quality on the park,” Sage said.

“Rachel Hill gutsed it out and they (Hill and Kerr) have got a great combination up front.

“The back four held up really well and I think they’ve got a really good chance of winning it.”

The W-League grand final will be played at Jubilee Stadium in Sydney on Saturday. Kick-off is at 1.30pm, WST.
