NORTH GROUP

Derbyshire vs Worcestershire, Derby

Half-centuries from openers Billy Godleman and Luis Reece, followed by a four-wicket haul for Matthew Critchley helped Derbyshire secure a much-needed victory over Worcestershire. With a 20-run win at the County Ground, Derbyshire registered their second win in as many games and are currently placed fourth on the North Group table with nine points from nine matches while Worcestershire, despite being winless for three matches in a row, are at third with 10 points from nine matches.

Opting to bat, Derbyshire rode on a strong start from Godleman and Reece, who added 135 for the opening wicket. Reece was slightly sedate as he struck a 39-ball 51 which included six fours and a six. The partnership finally came to an end in the 16th over when Reece was dismissed by Daryl Mitchell. While skipper Godleman fell in the 90s, having scored 10 fours and a six during his 67-ball stay, Wayne Madsen and Leus du Plooy came up with quick-fire contributions towards the end, helping Derbyshire to 181 for 2, with 44 of those runs coming in the last four overs.

Riki Wessels was run out early in the chase but a 73-run partnership between Martin Guptill and Callum Ferguson kept Worcestershire on track. However, Critchley turned the game in Derbyshire's favour with a flurry of wickets after the halfway stage of the innings. From 86 for 1, Worcestershire slipped to 114 for 5 with Critchley bagging all four wickets. Ed Barnard tried to keep the fight on with an unbeaten 17-ball 29 but the earlier wickets had done enough damage as Worcestershire ended up with 161 for 7.

Brief scores: Derbyshire181/2 in 20 overs (Billy Godleman 92, Luis Reece 51; Daryl Mitchell 1-23) beat Worcestershire 161/7 in 20 overs (Martin Guptill 45, Callum Ferguson 37; Matthew Critchley 4-26) by 20 runs.

SOUTH GROUP

Gloucestershire vs Hampshire, Bristol

A disciplined bowling performance and solid contributions from James Bracey and Michael Klinger with the bat helped Gloucestershire keep their semifinal hopes afloat as they registered a seven-wicket win against Hampshire. Gloucestershire are currently placed fourth on the South Group table with 11 points from 10 games while Hampshire, with five losses - including three in a row - have only seven points in nine matches and are placed sixth in the group.

Aneurin Donald helped Hampshire get off to a positive start after they opted to bat. At the other end, captain James Vince didn't get going, getting out for a run-a-ball nine. It was the dismissal of Donald, who fell for a 23-ball 44 that slowed things down for Hampshire, who also lost wickets at regular intervals - with Chris Liddle doing the bulk of the damage - and finished with 139 for 6.

Gloucestershire lost Miles Hammond early in the chase but a 102-run stand involving Bracey and Klinger kept the hosts on course. While Klinger was dismissed 10 short of the half-century mark, Bracey went on to score a 48-ball 64 to help his side closer to the target. Although Bracey didn't stay till the end, Ryan Higgins and Ian Cockbain completed the formalities, helping Gloucestershire win with 2.1 overs to spare.

Brief scores: Hampshire 139/6 in 20 overs (Aneurin Donald 44, Sam Northeast 26; Chris Liddle 3-25) lost to Gloucestershire 144/3 in 17.5 overs (James Bracey 64, Michael Klinger 40; Chris Morris 2-27) by 7 wickets.
