Eagles join Fulham in chase for Chelsea man

Crystal Palace are hopeful of landing Chelsea and England defender Gary Cahill on loan before the end of the January transfer window, per The Sun.

The 33-year-old, out of favour under Maurizio Sarri, had been linked with a move from the Blues to Premier League rivals Fulham.

However, Roy Hodgson is hopeful that the Eagles can swoop in to steal the deal and bring the Champions League winner to Selhurst Park.

Atletico Madrid passed over attempting to sign Alexis Sanchez from Manchester United after the forward demanded a salary in line with that of his current contract at Old Trafford, according to Don Balon.

The Chile international joined the Red Devils in January last year from Arsenal but has failed to produce his best form at the club, though he is improving under new interim manager Ole Gunner Solskjaer.

Atletico were interested in taking the striker to La Liga, though they have signed Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata instead following their refusal to match Sanchez’s requests.

Liverpool have apparently secured their first signing of the January transfer window with the acquisition of teenager Billy Koumetio, per ESPN.

The 16-year-old had a trial with Jurgen Klopp’s side last year and now has purportedly put pen to paper on a deal with the Anfield Club.

Koumetio had been with second-tier French outfit Orleans and plays as a left-sided centre-back.

The Brazilian will agree fresh terms

Chelsea defender David Luiz is close to agreeing a new one-year extension with the club to remain at Stamford Bridge beyond the end of the season.

The experienced Brazilian had looked set to become a free agent at the end of the current campaign.

However, he now is poised to agree fresh terms with the Blues to keep him on their books until the end of the 2019-20 campaign at the very least.

West Ham will replace Marko Arnautovic with Maxi Gomez this summer, despite the current Hammers striker signing a new deal Saturday, according to the Guardian.

Arnautovic inked fresh terms ending speculation of a January move to China, but West Ham will sanction a £45 million ($59m) exit to the Super League this summer.

In his place, they will bring in Celta Vigo's Gomez by meeting his £43.5m release clause this January, and then loaning him back to Celta for the rest of the season.
