The elections for office bearers of the Board of Control for Cricket in India under the new constitution have been set for October 22, after "most of the state associations" of the BCCI decided to become compliant to the Lodha reforms pursuant to elaborate meetings with Amicus Curiae PS Narasimha.

The Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators also announced that completion of polls for the state associations will have to be completed by September 14 and a list of representatives will have to be sent to BCCI by September 23.

The appointment of the Electoral Officer will be done by the BCCI and an electoral protocol will be prepared in consultation with the BCCI. The process will be communicated by June 30.

The announcement of election dates after Narasimha called for a quick handover of Indian cricket from the courts, lawyers and court-appointed committees back to the organizers. The Indian cricket board has been governed by the CoA. The Supreme Court had constituted this small panel of administrators in January 2017 to oversee the running of the BCCI until the board can hold fresh elections for office bearers as per the recommendations of the Lodha Committee.

The main bone of contention between the CoA and the state associations in recent times was the composition of the Apex Council, the smaller unit that will replace the all-powerful Working Committee of the BCCI. Narsimha clarified that the composition of a nine-member Apex Council was never a "mandate" of the Lodha Committee, and further clarified that the combined tenure for any office-bearer in state and parent body is 18 years.
