She came, she saw, she conquered in sizzling Adelaide heat.

With the temperature hitting 38C at kick off, Matildas superstar Sam Kerr put on an ice cool display for the ages at Marden Stadium on Thursday night but the Reds’ US star Veronica Latsko was equal to the task.

Adelaide United put up a great fight even though Kerr was unstoppable after being ranked as the fifth best women’s player on the planet in Tuesday’s Ballon D’Or but Latsko managed to keep the Reds unbeaten streak intact.

Kerr and Latsko were absolute joys to watch, scoring two apiece in a 2-2 draw after Glory was severely punished when it was cruelly reduced to 10 players.

Former Red Alyssa Mautz was expelled after picking up what appeared to be a soft second caution in the 58th minute after a foul on Laura Johns to set-up a grandstand finish when Glory was leading 2-1.

However it was the brilliant Kerr to emerge fresh from the sweltering heat when the game was less than two minutes old.

She delivered an incredible defence splitting pass which Rachel Hill couldn’t nudge past Adelaide keeper Sarah Willacy.

Adelaide weathered the Kerr storm after she peppered Willacy’s goal twice before she pierced the hosts with goals in the space of seven minutes.

Her first goal arrived 18 minutes after Latsko shocked the visitors with her third goal of the season.

On loan from Houston Dash, Latsko latched onto a route one long ball from compatriot, defender Amber Brooks.

Latsko remained composed and steered the ball past former Reds keeper Eliza Campbell from 12m.

Kerr then equalised with a brilliant header from a Mautz cross in the 40th minute.

Kerr leapt high to silence the home crowd before Latsko’s 42nd minute miss when Campbell was left exposed after a Glory error was almost costly.

When Kerr put her side ahead before the end of the first half it looked like Adelaide was heading for defeat.

Kerr wove her magic inside the box in stoppage time before driving her second goal, a 12m effort past the outstretched arms of Willacy, to record her sixth of the season.

With Glory in front, Reds star Gunnihildur Jonsdottir had a brilliant chance to equalise seconds after Mautz was expelled but her point blank effort cannoned off the crossbar on the hour.

Latsko then jagged a timely equaliser after Brooks was again involved to end a tough night in the heat for both teams.

Drink breaks were the order of the 90 minutes when match commissioner Greg Sierocinski tested the wet bulb globe temperature — a formula derived to appropriate exposure levels to high temperatures — was acceptable before kick off.
