Victor Valdes's bid to earn a contract at Manchester United remains unaffected in spite of his recent trip to Barcelona, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Reports on Friday suggested that the goalkeeper, who has been training with the Red Devils for the past few months, decided to end his spell with the club on Friday and return home indefinitely.

However, the Spanish paper claims this isn't the case, as he will only spend the weekend in his hometown before resuming training with Louis van Gaal's men on Monday.

The newspaper also states that his Uniteddebut could be imminent thanks to his rapport with United goalkeeping coach and former Barca mentor Frans Hoek.

Valdes is currently involved in a legal wrangle with Monaco over an alleged breach of contract back in July, while he continues to recover from a serious knee injury.

Nonetheless, the 32-year-old is reportedly hopeful about securing a permanent deal in Manchester and intends to amicably resolve his contractual issues with the Ligue 1 side before the end of the year.
