USC declared sophomore guard De’Anthony Melton ineligible as the school continues to investigate allegations of bribery, his attorney told the Los Angeles Times.

Melton, who has been held out of USC’s first 10 games, did not travel with the Trojans to Hawaii for the Diamond Head Classic.

The new information USC is investigating is not related to an alleged $5,000 bribe, Melton's attorney Vicki I. Podberesky told the Times Wednesday.
Federal prosecutors in the college basketball corruption investigation allege a close family friend of Melton (referred to as Player-9 in the sweeping lawsuit) received a $5,000 bribe in August "in exchange for directing the player to use would-be agent Christian Dawkins and financial advisor Munish Sood."

According to the Times, Elliott’s attorney denied his client received any money or otherwise did anything wrong.
Melton finished his first season among USC’s all-time freshmen top 10 in free throws made, rebounds, assists, blocks and steals
