Amidst the ongoing Anti-Corruption investigation by the ICC, Emirates Cricket Board has provisionally suspended batsman Ashfaq Ahmed. No charges have yet been laid on the player.

UAE were hit hard right before the World T20 qualifiers as four of their players - including captain Mohammed Naveed were suspended under the ICC's Anti-Corruption code on charges relating to conspiracy to fix the upcoming tournament [T20 World Cup qualifiers] or failure to cooperate with the ACU investigation.Top-order batsman Shaiman Anwar, seamer Qadeer Ahmed and local player Mehardeep Chhayakar were the other three to be suspended.

Ashfaq, the fifth player in that suspended list, is UAE's opener, who scored 4 and 3 in the first two games in the qualifiers before being dropped for the third fixture.
